The GGBA is seeking qualified candidates for the Board of Directors! GGBA’s Board of Directors is the governing entity that is responsible for the organization. Individuals interested in running must be members in good standing of the GGBA in order to be considered for any position.

The deadline to declare candidacy is August 13, 2010 and the elections will be held on September 14, 2010. To submit your candidacy please complete the Board Application and mail or fax them to the GGBA offices no later than August 13, 2010.

Those listed in the Pride Pages are dedicated to advancing the LGBT business movement through supporting their local, community-based LGBT Chamber of Commerce. They are the #1 resource for the LGBT community to locate LGBT-friendly businesses and are used regularly by GGBA members to refer business to each other!

This full color annual publication is similar to the yellow pages and contains business listings by category along with display ads. The Pride Pages are produced in September and 25,000 complimentary copies are distributed to its members, at high-traffic locations and at community events throughout the Bay Area.

The National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and Wells Fargo have joined together to launch the NGLCC/Wells Fargo LGBT Business Owner of the Year Award as a sign of their mutual goal to support the needs of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) business owners.

This award honors the nation’s leading LGBT business owners for their entrepreneurial spirit, demonstrated by their companies’ business performance, innovation, and personal service to the community. The winning LGBT-owned business will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments. The winning business will receive a grant of $5000. The deadline to complete this application is June 30, 2010.

The San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB) is offering a valuable opportunity for unique “Only in San Francisco” businesses, especially those operating outside of the traditional visitor areas. The SFCVB’s Neighborhood Membership Grants are designed to provide Bureau membership to under-exposed businesses and draw more visitors to the city’s diverse and fascinating neighborhoods.

A maximum of ten Neighborhood Membership Grants will be awarded.

Recipients will receive a complimentary one-year SFCVB membership, including all of the benefits of Bureau membership such as listings online and in publications and access to the Convention Calendar. The Grants also include admission (for one person) to Bureau events such as the Annual Luncheon, Market Briefings, Outlook Forums and Member Business Exchanges. The Neighborhood Membership Grants also include mentoring by members of the SFCVB professional staff and specially selected Bureau members. A $50 setup fee is required for those businesses selected to receive the Grants.

The deadline to apply has been extended to March 26, 2010, at 5:00 pm. Finalists will be interviewed by a panel of representatives from the Council of District Merchants, San Francisco Office of Small Business, Community Partnership Council and SFCVB staff. This program is open to businesses operating in San Francisco that are not currently members of the SFCVB.

As a member of the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau, Grant recipients will be supported by an organization whose vision is to ensure that San Francisco is the most compelling destination in the world. For over 100 years, the Bureau’s focus has been on enhancing the local economy by marketing San Francisco and the Bay Area as the premier destination for conventions, meetings, events and leisure travel.

The Pride Pages is the leading LGBT business directory in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a distribution of 35,000 copies and a shelf-life of 15 months. Unlike purely commercial publications, The Pride Pages features businesses and organizations that have made a commitment to advancing the interests of the LGBT and supportive business community. The San Francisco Jobs Now Program uses newly available federal stimulus funds to expand subsidized employment opportunities, with a goal of placing 1,000 participants in jobs between May 2009 and September 2010.
Consistent with the goals of the federal stimulus package, the primary objectives of the JOBS NOW! program are to provide an immediate source of income for low-income families and to stimulate local economic recovery.
The JOBS NOW! program benefits local employers by providing referrals of qualified workers and by subsidizing 100% of their wages until September 30, 2010.
