Our 400 active members represent over 14,000 employees, and our Pride Pages business directory has a circulation of 35,000, making the GGBA the primary focal point of LGBT friendly marketing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
More and more companies are discovering the largely untapped LGBT market segment which offers to increase market share faster than any other national segment. With projected numbers of nearly $700 billion worth of buying power in 2008, the LGBT market is a truly powerful consumer segment.
It’s no wonder that major brand names like Wells Fargo Bank, American Airlines, Dell, Toyota, and Budweiser spend millions of dollars annually marketing directly to the LGBT community. According to a recent national survey, approximately one in four (24%) gay adults said they have switched products or service providers because they found a competing company that supports causes that benefit the LGBT community. In terms of their brand loyalty behavior, about two-thirds (66%) of all LGBT adults reported that they would be likely to remain loyal to a brand they believed to be supportive to the community – even when less friendly companies offered lower prices.
Considering these figures, I’m certain you can see the amazing potential in marketing to the LGBT community. Smart marketers look for high rates of return in their marketing dollars; and sponsoring the Golden Gate Business Association is smart money spent.
