Dawn Ackerman, long-standing member of the GGBA, Legacy Award winner of the NGLCC, tireless advocate for the LGBT community (and new mommy!) knows the importance of being a certified LGBT Business Enterprise (LGBTBE). In fact, her company, Outsmart Office, is one of the first companies to be certified by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) more than 10 years ago.
Dawn is such a believer in the value of certification that she has performed nearly 150 of the in-person site visits that are integral to achieving certification. If you are a Certified LGBTBE based in California, odds are you already know Dawn and the wonderful work she does.
When the Covid-19 virus put a temporary stop to in-person site visits, the NGLCC responded by offering virtual site visits. Even as her own business is suffering as a result of the lockdown in California, Dawn jumped in and began performing virtual site visits, helping other LGBT owned companies achieve their certification. Just this week alone, Dawn is doing an incredible four virtual site visits – four!!
It is with heartfelt gratitude and awe that I, on behalf of the entire GGBA, thank Dawn for her efforts. She continues to both raise the bar of LGBT advocacy while simultaneously opening the door for all who wish to enter.
